Projects
Projects
Since starting in 2001, Kreative Solutions Group has undertaken a number of projects.
The most notable being:
Provision of gardening and allotment sessions
- Situation: A number of people expressed an interest in gardening and developing more landscaped areas around their homes.
- Solution: A number of sessions were organised, where participants learnt about how to create hanging baskets and planted pots, which they could locate around their homes. Participants were also introduced to working on an allotment and how to grow their own food.
- Outcome: Participants were more confident at being able to create hanging basket displays and grow some food on an allotment.
Provision of sporting activities
- Situation: A number of people expressed an interest in getting more fit and undertaking sporting activity, which they felt were lacking in an appropriate setting where they lived.
- Solution: Participants were asked what activities they would like to take part in and subsequently suitable tutors were identified to lead the sessions. A range of sporting activities were organised, including badminton, table tennis and keep fit.
- Outcome: Participants were able to get more healthier and improve their quality of life.
Provision of artistic activities
- Situation: A number of people had attended embroidery and henna painting classes in another part of the city. These sessions had finished and they wanted to continue doing these sessions nearer to where they lived.
- Solution: More sessions were organised at a local venue and previous participants attended, alongside new participants.
- Outcome: Participants were able to continue an activity that they enjoyed and at a location near to their homes. New participants were also able to learn a new activity.
Provision of training courses
- Situation: Attendance at local community forums was low from certain sections of the community, due to a lack of knowledge and skills of being able to articulate themselves at meetings and being aware of the mechanisms of community change.
- Solution: Empowerment sessions were organised, including courses in presentation skills, interviewing skills, organisational skills and community awareness skills.
- Outcome: Participants were more confident at knowing how to articulate their community issues and attendance at community meetings increased.
